Welcome to the June blog hop for New at SU! Our theme is to use two-tone cardstock and create with Summer in mind.
This has given me a chance to create another 8x8 page for my memory keeping, a beach holiday we had before Christmas this past year.
The two-tone cardstock is new to me, so I grabbed the Beautiful Ordinary Life 12x12 and matching cardstock to play with.
I love that there is a white core so its perfect for tearing! If you tear it, pulling one side towards you, the white core is exposed well. You can also roll the edges slightly as the cardstock is thinner and more pliable. I used both sides of the cardstock (both lighter and darker shades) which gave that feel of 'waves' of a beach.
Another fabulous idea to play with the white core is to emboss your two-tone cardstock then buff the raised edges with a nail file or sandpaper.... the exposed sections really shows off the embossed pattern even more!
I combined both the tearing and the sandpaper on my title! I cut both titles, one in the Pool Party and Daffodil Delight then adhered one on top of the other, using only adhesive on the top half of the letters. I then tore these off and added some sanding to the sides of the letters.
Its been lovely to create again with the Design team at New at SU! Follow along the links below so you can hop along to the other projects - amazing work that will keep you inspired for weeks!
Happy creating,
Rach

When you can complete a personal scrapbook layout AND use it for a hop, it's a WIN/WIN situation! I realized that you'd be in winter down under AFTER the hop was created, but you came SHINING through! The letters for the title are spectacular.
ReplyDeleteThanks Loni, it was a fun title to see it come to life ;)
DeleteGreat tips and I love the nail file!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rachael :)
DeleteI love all the texture you achieved with the sanding and tearing! The title is especially impressive; I tend to tear these just getting the letter out of the die and definitely not on purpose lol. Lovely page and beautiful memories! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLOL thanks Amanda... some times tearing is a happy accident ;)
